We hope everybody had a great and restful weekend and are ready for the upcoming week. We had a very successful turnout for our first general meeting of this semester, last Wednesday, September 7th. Special thanks to Recruitment Chair & Treasurer, Samie Blasingame, and Secretary & Historian, Britney Ralston who put in the extra effort to bring those stragglers in! Also a special thanks to Social Meeting Planner, Hanna Lee who prepared an awesome spread of culinary goodness.
We’d like to remind you all to RSVP to the International Studies Department’s Annual New Year Party which will be at Dr. Marcus’ home tomorrow evening from 6-9pm. This will be an opportunity to informally meet with fellow I/ST majors as well as faculty from several departments and make connections that will definitely be beneficial to you for the following year. Come hungry and happy! Please see the attached photo for all necessary information.
This Wednesday, September 14th, we will be holding nominations for the following officer positions:
- Art Director
- Technology Director
- Oceania Ambassador
- South Asia Ambassador
- North America Ambassador
- Sub-Saharan Africa Ambassador
- Russia and Central Asia Ambassador
- Middle East and North Africa Ambassador
- International Education Committee Representative
- College of Liberal Arts Student Council Representative
Attached to this email are the responsibilities of each officer. Holding an officer position is a great way to network on campus, build your resume, as well as to let your voice be heard through voting on our Executive Board. Please email us here if you are interested or if you have questions regarding the positions.
Along with this week’s events, we are inviting you to spend Friday, September 16th, with us at the annual International Students Association (ISA) bonfire at Bolsa Chica State Beach from 5-10pm. This is a great opportunity to meet students from all over the world who are studying abroad here in Long Beach. Please bring your own drinks and snacks, as a BBQ dinner will be provided. Click here to RSVP and for details on their location.
We hope you all can join us during this week’s festivities. We promise great discussion, great people, and (of course) great food at each one! Hope to see you Wednesday!
